Wilayah Kuala Lumpur Drone Soccer Finals
The Sky Over Kuala Lumpur — A New Era Takes Flight
When drone soccer was first introduced to all schools across Kuala Lumpur, it sparked curiosity throughout the city. Not every school joined the inaugural season, but the introduction alone ignited excitement in classrooms, staff rooms, and co‑curricular clubs. The idea was bold, futuristic, and unlike anything the education system had seen.
To prepare educators for this new frontier, Cybersphere conducted a 3‑day intensive workshop for school teachers. Over those three days, teachers learned drone assembly, safety protocols, match operations, and coaching strategies. Many arrived unsure, but left confident and ready to guide their students into the world of drone sports.
With SSTP Kuala Lumpur organising the competition and Cybersphere providing the technical backbone, the competition structure took shape. The first level of competition unfolded across all four education districts in Kuala Lumpur, with its own district‑level championship. Schools battled for a place in the city finals, and week by week, the excitement grew.
From these district showdowns, the best 3 teams advanced to the grand stage.
That stage was Sekolah Menengah Teknik Kuala Lumpur, the proud host of the finals held this past Monday and Tuesday. The campus transformed into a buzzing arena—students in team colours, teachers cheering from the stands, and parents capturing every moment.
The matches were intense.
In the secondary school category, the host school—SM Teknik Kuala Lumpur—flew with precision and confidence. Their teamwork, sharpened by weeks of practice, carried them through the final match. When the whistle sounded, the hall erupted. The hosts were crowned champions, defending their home ground with pride.
The primary school division delivered its own inspiring storyline. Young pilots, some competing for the first time, flew with fearless determination. In the end, SK Sri Murni rose above the rest, claiming the title of Primary School Champions of Kuala Lumpur with calm, disciplined play.
They had introduced drone soccer to every school in the city, trained teachers, supported district competitions, and watched students discover a new passion.
Not every school participated this year—but the seeds had been planted everywhere.
And as the lights dimmed at SM Teknik Kuala Lumpur, one truth echoed through the hall:
Drone soccer had taken flight in Kuala Lumpur. And this was only the beginning.
Due recognition to En Hafiz (formerly with SSTP) and En Ahmad Nzryshah for initiating this in KL
Malaysia has successfully hosted its first-ever inter-school drone soccer competition, an initiative organised by the Ministry of Education with technical support from FIDA Malaysia (Cybersphere Drone Soccer). The tournament was conducted using SkyKick equipment and adhered strictly to official FIDA rules, ensuring a professional and internationally aligned standard of play.
Despite having only one month to prepare, participating schools demonstrated extraordinary commitment. Students quickly adapted to the sport’s technical and tactical demands, showcasing impressive talent, creativity, and teamwork. The event revealed a strong pool of emerging young players with the potential to represent Malaysia on larger stages.
Encouraged by the overwhelming response and the quality of competition, organisers are already planning the next inter-school tournament in the coming months, aiming to expand participation and further strengthen Malaysia’s drone soccer ecosystem.
This inaugural event marks a significant milestone—setting the foundation for a vibrant, competitive, and future-ready drone sports culture in Malaysia.
Kudos to En Hafiz and team.
